Is anything happening? Is any progress being made?
Submitted by Genie OBrien on Thu, 12/10/2009 - 17:22Is there any positive news for those of us who miss the former format?
Every day now when I listen to WUFT while commuting (unless I get so disgusted that I play a cd), I hear multiple audio clips from people who state how delighted they are with the new all talk/ schmalk format.
Of course I never hear any sound bites from the frustrated masses who miss the music genres that were previously played.
Are there any developments?
consultant's report called "confidential"
Submitted by Genie OBrien on Sun, 08/23/2009 - 10:04There would appear to be no sound basis for the consultant's report to be considered confidential. The legal concept of freedom of information comes to mind, and it's ironic and almost laughable that a Journalism and Communications Dean is hiding and obscuring information under the cloak of confidentiality.
How do we compile a lIst of what we would have donated in the October WUFT Pledge Drive?
Submitted by Genie OBrien on Fri, 08/21/2009 - 10:48Since Dean Wright stated to Rosalyn Levy and Howard Rothman on August 20, 2009 that he would not associate a decrease in upcoming October 2009 Pledge Drive donations , with dissatisfaction with his decision to eliminate classical music on WUTF, then how do we measure our impact?
Clearly Dean Wright is stating that our money does not matter and that our listening preferences do not matter.
Since it appears the station is not interested in what we would have donated, should we compile a list here on this website of the donations we had planned to pledge?
Classical music
Submitted by Genie OBrien on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 19:48I have been listening to public radio's classical programming for several decades.I would never consider living in an area where I could not hear Public Radio's classical music. For the past 7 years I have lived in Alachua County and have immensely enjoyed WUFT's classical music. I was quite distressed to learn via the Gainesville Sun that the classical music would be dropped so that listeners can listen to more "talk" radio.
I found it very unfortunate that listeners were given 3 weeks' notice that the music would be silenced.
